as the mother of a profoundly handicapped 22 year old that was placed in a nursing home last year because she choked on food had feeding tube inserted. in the year and a half that she has been in home she has been molested a total of 4 times by three different men two elderly so charges could not be brought against them the last time two times by same man.I do have a lawyer have gone to over 12 different nursing homes trying to get her moved, all turned down because she has medicaid.
I have wrote to Jeb Bush he sent nice sorry letter had abuse hotline lady call me they said they found nothing yet I have photo's of marks on her arm and the inside of her leg.
have called news papers they are not interested yet if my Daughter or any of the other hundreds of young handicapped people this happens to were a cute little puppy the media would go nuts and donations would pour in to help save the poor little thing.don't get me wrong I to love cute little puppies.but I love my Daughter as well.
Medicaid pays nursing home $5000.00 per month and the nurses aid who caught last man both times has a felony drug record.and I can not get any help to pay for Nurse while I work so she can come home where she will be safe????
this last man 58 year old that checked himself out and went home.
we live in Florida but I am sure this happens everywhere.
why can they not build homes made for young adults 18 to 55 years ?????

My grandfather starved to death in a nursing home. When they did the autopsy they discovered that all he had to eat within the last week of his life was a hotdog. Papa was only 70 years old but had alzimers. He forgot to eat and they obviously didn't care to feed him. I understand your anger and frustration. Call adult protective services right way and get this on the record. It doesn't matter if they rub you off, get it on the record. It will be important down the line as you build your case.
