» Rocky13 - Are you the victim of a family member
In response to Are you the victim of a family member posted by jfarris:I was the victim of verbal, psychological, and physical abuse from the age of 10 to age 16. I am now 45 years old. The abuser was my step-father. I am waking up to this event and the trauma it caused. I have been walking a path toward healing and recovery for about 25 years. It has been excruciating. Along the way I have come to recognize the disconnect, splitting and fear. I split off from myself because it was too painful to experience the terror. I have felt alone all of my life.

In response to Are you the victim of a family member posted by Rocky13:I totally understand your pain. I too have dealt with splitting for a number of years. I also tend to stop my emotions before they go too far and I get invested in relationships. It is a difficult road to travel, the one to recovery however it is one that you do not travel alone. There are those of us out here that understand your pain. You can talk to us any time you would like. The one good thing about there being someone who has experienced what you have is that you have somepne to talk to.
