» hyacinth82 - Closure from an abusive relationship

Is it helpful to get closure after an abusive relationship by seeing the abuser again? My relationship was short (2 years) but long enough that I received enough physical and verbal abuse to give me nightmares even after a year. My past abuser still lives in my immediate area, although I don not have contact with him. I have recently discovered that I know where to find him. Does anyone have an opinion about the following idea: I could find him and see him from a distance in a public place (hockey arena) and he would not be able to speak to me or get to me (he would be playing hockey). Seeing him might disarm my nightmares by allowing me to see that he isn't the monster under the bed... he's just a pathetic excuse for a man.
